The Core Concept: The Decay Score
Everything in CleanerBot revolves around a simple number called the Decay Score. It works like a quiet timer for each member.
When they are Active
When a member participates (chats, reacts, joins voice), their Decay Score resets to 0. They are safe!
When they are Inactive
If a member stays completely quiet, their Decay Score goes up slowly over time.
The Inactivity Journey
What happens when a member goes quiet? You decide the timeline.
1. Listening for Activity
CleanerBot watches for basic participation. It never reads message contents. It just notices that an action happened.
Privacy First
We only store technical IDs to compute scores. No cross-server tracking, no chat logs, no shady permissions required.
Ghost vs Standard
In Standard Mode, warnings are posted in a public channel. In Ghost Mode, warnings are sent directly to your staff channel privately.
2. Nudges & Warnings
When a member reaches your configured Warning Threshold (e.g., 30 days), CleanerBot gives them a gentle nudge. A little later, they might receive an Inactive Role which you can use to hide specific channels.
3. The Final Action
If they cross the final Kick Threshold, you are in control. By default, members are sent to a Manual Review Queue for your staff to approve or reject. Auto-kick is completely optional.
Safety Guardrails
Even if you enable Auto-kick, we cap daily removals and offer pre-kick Direct Messages (with a re-invite link) so members know they weren't banned.
Carrots, Not Just Sticks
CleanerBot doesn't just clean up. It actively encourages your members to stay engaged.
Activity Streaks
Reward consistent participation. CleanerBot tracks weekly activity streaks and can post highscores and announce "Monthly Champions" to celebrate your most loyal members.
Reward Roles
Automatically give out special Discord roles to members who maintain long activity streaks. If they go quiet, they get a grace period before the role is gently removed.
Fun Polls & Quizzes
Schedule automated polls or quizzes to easily spike engagement. Voting counts as activity, instantly resetting the member's Decay Score to zero.
